Live Display Requirements

Requirements to display Tagboard on connected screens.

Tagboard requires a high bandwidth internet

40mbps minimum, more is better with cloud productions.

Standard HTTPS (SSL) ports for web browsing (port 443) open to *.tagboard.com

Tagboard runs best on Chrome

We recommend running on the latest version of Google Chrome and avoid outputting Tagboard via TV browsers and iPads.

Using videos with audio

Chrome's autoplay policies affect video playback with sound, as web browsers move towards stricter autoplay policies.

If you want to use video with audio in Tagboard, it's important to take the following steps:

  • Before you go live, interact with your output at live.tagboard.com (click, tap, etc.)

  • Play a video on your output and let audio run. Chrome uses a Media Engagement Index to score how likely you are to consume media on a site. This looks at the ratio of playback/interaction. The higher the MEI score for live.tagboard.com, the better!

If Video is critical to your event, we recommend these steps to disable the autoplay policy entirely by using a command line flag. This means audio will always be allowed from your Tagboard output. You can find full instructions on how to do this here for Windows and macOS

Common methods for displaying Tagboard live

Physical Connection

  1. Connect the device to the screen with the correct HDMI, DVI , or VGA cable.
Ensure screen dimensions match when mirroring or extending the display.
  2. Enter "do not disturb" mode and disable any popups. When mirroring the display, you do not want notifications or popups to appear on your connected screen.
  3. Launch your Tagboard display URL on Chrome.
  4. Enter full screen mode by clicking "View" in the top toolbar, uncheck "Always Show Toolbar in Fullscreen Mode" and select "Enter Full Screen"

Fullscreen Router Source Using a Scan Converter

  3. Add the output signal into your scan converter, mixer, or scaler of your production system. Set the chroma-key, then crop or overlay.

Connect via Direct URL Input to Production Software

Software with HTML5 input support should allow adding a Tagboard display URL as a layer/input within the switcher. In Software that supports HTML5 input sources, add a new input within your production, paste the display URL from Tagboard Producer, and set the dimensions of your input to match your output.

If your Tagboard Graphics or Social Displays are not fullscreen, we recommend using a transparent chromakey as the platform will recognize it as an alpha channel. You can set this in the Display Theme settings or master Tagboard Producer background color picker located in the bottom left.
