A Hands-Off Production: Set It & Forget It

This article addresses how to set up Producer to run through a playlist hands-free. You can set it, then walk away and forget it... content will continue to run.

Tagboard Producer is a storytelling suite that gives you a cloud-based control room to build your playlist, edit your pre-built graphics, themes and panels on the fly, and control every piece of content in real time. 

However, if you’d like to build your playlist then just let it run hands-free… you can do that too! This ‘set it and forget’ it method is great if your producer can’t be in front of a computer, but there’s still a need to have content in your Playlist cycling through itself. You want to set your playlist for pregame or postgame, then need to walk away from a computer? Concourse TVs, in-venue screens, or any other connected screens can run your content on a loop while you're on the go. Follow the below steps for how to set this up.

Step 1: Build your playlist

Start by dragging and dropping Graphics and Content onto your Playlist. You can add Shows, Segments, or individual Graphics and Media onto your Playlist.

Step 2: Add time controls

Once your content is in your playlist, edit the duration you want each Graphic to appear on your connected screen.

For social graphics, you can also set a 'cycle speed' to define how long each Post will be on screen. 

Step 3: Create an Output URL

When you are ready to go live, you will need to connect your production to a screen, your control room, or live production software. 

Click "Output(s)" in the top right corner of Producer, to open the modal to manage & set up your Outputs.

Name your screen (ie. studio main screen or center field display) then click 'Create Display URL'. Copy your new display URL, and paste into your connected screen to use as your live output.

Step 4: Set your playlist to play & loop

Once your output link is live, click the "Play" button at the bottom of your playlist. Then ensure looping is enabled in the bottom left of your playlist. 

Your playlist will now cycle through Graphics in order according to your set timing, and automatically loop back to the top when it hits the end. Close your laptop, and walk away from your computer!

Tip: To verify everything is set up correctly, you should see a timer counting up at the bottom right of your playlist.

BEST PRACTICES

The intent of auto-play, or set-it-and-forget-it is to have the playlist automatically play. But, if changes need to be made:

  1. Stop the playlist by click PAUSE
  2. EDIT the value(s)
  3. Click UPDATE LIVE
  4. Click PLAY to resume the playlist
